A Little About Me

You can find my brand new self hosted website here, and I’d love to have you stop by there!

My tag here on WordPress is Transformed Warrior, also known as Aslynn W. on some sites, depending on the availability of my own name, and Stacey to those who know me best. I thought I should offer a bit of an introduction so you’ll know me better as an author and a person.

First and foremost, I am a child of the Most High God, and thankful everyday for His Hand at work in my life and the lives of my family members. As you may often see me write, and I will be quick to tell you, were it not for God, I wouldn’t be here right now. It’s a loaded statement, but it’s the truth.

On a personal level, I am generally and severely an introvert. I hide it very well when I have to, but the very idea of being in a crowd of people, especially if most of them are people I don’t know, absolutely weakens me. As a member of a band, former speaker and advocate for special needs families, I can push that aside when my heart and soul are in what I’m doing, but it takes time sometimes to work up to it. I do love meeting new people though, isn’t that funny? I guess that’s how it works.

My husband and I have been together for almost 20 years now, and together we have three children. Our two oldest boys are autistic, with other disabilities as well, and I have been an avid researcher and advocate in the field of disabilities for over 15 years as of this writing. I founded a support group while our middle son was in elementary school for families of special needs children and wrote successful grant proposals for that group for the 5 years that it was in operation. Autism advocacy has been near and dear to my heart, and always will be.

Our daughter has, in the past, suffered with social anxiety and depression, and those are also very important to me although I haven’t been an active advocate for that cause at this point. I do hope to be in the near future, as I am compiling research even as I write this, and putting a website together. I’d love to be able to work with professionals, especially in the educational settings, to better serve these teens who struggle with anxiety and depression, as I feel they are a severely under-served majority that has fallen through the cracks.

As you’ll find throughout my blog posts here, I am also very much in love with cooking, baking, photography, music, pets, gardening and a slew of other things that keep me busy when I’m not otherwise writing as a Freelance Writer or here on my blog.

I greatly appreciate your stopping by today. If you’re just finding the blog, please meander through some posts and be sure to let me know you were here.

And have a blessed day!
